The Price of Bricks

The Price of Bricks is a collaborative project between Ahmad Mallah and Rebecca Lillich // Krüger, exploring the physical and emotional cost of rebuilding after destruction. Using a combination of live performance, a pile of bricks and a two screen video installation, the project examines how bricks serve as both barriers and building blocks simultaneous symbols of oppression and hope.

How i work
For this performance art piece, I created a slow ambient soundscape built around a long, continuous drone sound. The composition is intentionally minimal, allowing time and subtle change to become the primary musical elements rather than melody or rhythm.

My approach focused on restraint and duration. By limiting the number of sounds i was able to concentrate on small shifts in texture, tone, and density. The drone evolves almost imperceptibly, encouraging deep listening and creating a sustained emotional and physical space for the performance to exist within.
